What a night. We had an overflow crowd estimated at 180 by a Powell’s staffer, and we sold out of books, during the launch of A Simplified Map of the Real World, Stevan Allred’s debut.
Thanks to everyone who attended, to everyone who has been spreading the word about this luminous linked short story collection, and to the Espresso Book Machine staff, who were on hand to print out books so people could enjoy them hot off the press. Talk about a local book experience. In fact, now that we’re sold out at the downtown store, you can still buy copies upstairs in the Purple Room at the EBM kiosk.
Here’s to beginnings! Onward, Stevan, my author, my mentor, my friend. May you remember last night–every comment, every breath, every sigh and giggle from the audience–for always.
