Local authors Natalie Serber and Stevan Allred are reading from their linked short story collections at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, at Broadway Books, 1714 N.E. Broadway. Serber is the author of Shout Her Lovely Name, a New York Times Notable Book (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), and Allred is the author of A Simplified Map of the Real World (Forest Avenue Press).
Serber is the recipient of the Tobias Wolff Award, the H.E. Francis Award, the John Steinbeck Award, and a finalist mention for the Annie Dillard Creative Nonfiction Award. She is working on a novel. Find out more at www.natalieserber.com.
Allred lives and writes in a house in the woods halfway between Fisher’s Mill and Viola, in rural Clackamas County, outside of Portland, Oregon. He is the editor of Dixon Ticonderoga, a zine that explores the intimate relationship between divorce and pencils, and he teaches writing at The Pinewood Table with Joanna Rose.
