Late Night Debut

LNL kateAuthors Joanna Rose, Little Miss Strange, and Stevan Allred, A Simplified Map of the Real World, discuss Kate Gray’s debut novel, Carry the Sky, on Late Night Debut, a podcast series curated by Late Night Library and hosted by Amber Keller.

Listen to the episode here.

Stevan and Joanna are co-teachers at the Pinewood Table, and Kate Gray, who says poetry is her first language, studied with them to learn how to write a novel. These three are brilliant, especially when it comes to unpacking their own understandings of craft, and the choices authors make on the page.

It’s pretty amazing, too, that Forest Avenue Press has published all three of them: Stevan’s debut linked short story collection, A Simplified Map of the Real World; Joanna Rose’s story, “A Good Crack and Break,” which was the genesis for the title of our recent collection, The Night, and the Rain, and the River; and Kate Gray’s Carry the Sky.

Kate’s book, also this week, was reviewed by mega-author Beth Kephart and The Lesbrary, a lesbian-themed reviewing site.
